History and Information:
Western Districts Riding Club is South Australia’s oldest running club in history, founded in 1937. Rallies were formally held at West Beach, Adelaide Shores, but sadly these grounds were lost in 2013. Within the last few years Western Districts Riding Club were very fortunate to secure the hire of Trinity College Equestrian Grounds (located on the corner of Bentley and Tiver Roads in Evanston South) to hold their rallies. The grounds are well maintained and are a perfect location for our riders to safely and securely ride.
At Western Districts Riding Club we cater for riders of all ages and abilities and arrange regular instructional rallies to harness the knowledge and expertise of instructors from all different riding disciplines. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive family friendly club with a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
Western Districts Riding Club hold rallies every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month (long weekends may effect these dates) with a focus on educating our riders… while still having a great time! Some examples of rallies include; Horsemanship, Dressage, Jumping, Trail Rides, Games, Desensitising… and much, much more! Rallies are a great way for riders to learn new skills, while practicing those they already have, to assist with improvement both in and out of the saddle.
Rallies are a non-judgemental, safe place for our riders to learn and thrive. There is an expectation that all riders will be sensible and use their manners towards each other to ensure a happy and friendly riding environment. We work with individuals of all skill and confidence levels and enjoy watching nervous riders as they gain in confidence, beginners as they become more confident and competent in the saddle and our more experienced riders out.
Our club wouldn’t be as amazing as it is without our fantastic committee members and volunteers – many hands make light work! We encourage and welcome parent, grandparent, aunty, uncle and friend participation and often have non horsey siblings hanging out and getting involved in other ways – they can make fantastic canteen helpers!
Western Districts Riding Club is able to hold up to 2 Open Shows each year!
These shows are designed to cater for all riders with Open Rings, Standardbred Rings and L & P Plate Rings, so there is something for everyone! Our shows wouldn't be as successful as they are without our wonderful sponsors.
Western Districts Riding Club thanks each and every one of our sponsors and supporters - because without you, these shows wouldn’t be possible!
The grounds are lovely with big grass and sand arenas, warm up areas including a round yard, canteen and toilet facilities. We are very, very lucky to have access to such magnificent facilities!
We look forward to hosting our next Open Show in 2020
